He holds a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Paraíba (1971), a Master’s degree in Meteorology from the National Institute of Space Research (1975) and a PhD in Bioengineering – University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1984). He is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG). Has experience in the Large Area of Exact Sciences (Meteorology), with emphasis on Climatology and Climate Change and Agricultural Sciences (Agronomy), with emphasis on agricultural meteorology and Agricultural Climatology, working mainly on the following topics: ecosystem microscale meteorology (balance of radiation and balance of energy on vegetated areas), evaporation and evapotranspiration, crop water consumption, soil heat flux, agricultural zoning, agricultural climatology and the effects of climate change on agricultural production.
